A girl is sitting in a bus, staring out of the window. Her freely open hair was a sign of the freedom she is feeling and how excited she is for her upcoming life.
The bus came to a halt and she got down searching for someone and before she realised another girl wearing a pink kurti with blue jeans, closed her eyes from behind, with her palms.
"Siya..." The first girl shouted, making everyone stare at them.
Siya removed her hands from her eyes and she turned to her.
" Avika." Siya's happiness was visible from his tone.
Both of them hugged each other tightly. They were meeting after a while but still their bond is the same.
"How are you? And how's everything?" She asked, breaking the hug.
Avika gave her a smile, " I am fine and please don't ask me about anything else."
Her tone was enough to tell her that she doesn't want to talk about it so she shrugged it off, trying not to upset her.
"Let it be, let's go. I am so excited to show you around the city. You always wanted to visit Rajasthan, right?" Avika nodded her head in positive with a wide smile.
They hopped on a local rickshaw, moving around the city of Jaipur to reach Siya's place. Avika's eyes sparkled, admiring the scenery before her eyes with songs playing in her bluetooth.
She was so engrossed in engraving the beauty of the city in her mind that she didn't realise her red dupatta that was once draped around her neck left its place and flew away.
" Avika...you dupatta." Siya nudged her, bringing her back from her thoughts.
Both of them glanced back to look where the dupatta was flowing. There was a guy who was on his motorbike behind them.
The dupatta flowed a little and ended up landing on the guy's face which made him stumble as his bike was in speed. The direction of his bike moved to the side of the road and crashed in a haystack.
The girls stared at each other in shock, " That's not my dupatta, nor it's my fault." Avika shrugged, and Siya burst into a fit of laughter.
Soon they reached Siya's home. Her home feels like a warm hug. Soft light filled her cosy living room, where a comfy sofa and colorful rugs invite relaxation.
A wide smile appeared on Avika's face as she dragged herself through Siya's home capturing the vibe of the house," Wow... Siya, it's so beautiful."
"Thank-you.." Siya replied casually.
Then Avika moved to the kitchen, it smelled like freshly baked treats, with old-fashioned cabinets and wooden touches. Everything was so beautiful in Avika's eyes.
"Will you have lunch first or are you going to take some rest?"
"I want to take a shower first." Avika said, slouching on the couch.
"Okay then let me show you your room." Siya led her to the next room beside hers. Since it was a small house it only had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a washroom and a not so small living room.
She opened the brown door to reveal a small room which had a bed in the corner, a study table beside it and a cupboard opposite of the bed, that's it but that was enough to make Avika jump in happiness.
"OMG...it's so cute Siya." She immediately turned and hugged her tightly. " I love you so..so ..so..so much."
"I love you too darling...but now get off me, you're literally choking me." Avika got away from her.
She was so happy, she always wanted to have her personal space and a person who can tell her that they love her too and Siya was the only person who had made her feel that way.
Siya went into the kitchen while Avika opened her suitcase and took out a white t-shirt along with a baby pink lower before rushing to the bathroom, the room next to hers.
When she came back from the shower, Siya was done with cooking. Avika settled beside her and played something on her phone before delving herself in devouring the dishes made by Siya.
"What are you watching?" Siya asked trying to understand what's happening in the video on Avika's phone.
" CID." Siya scrunched her nose at her answer, giving her a disgusting expression.
"What?" Avika asked innocently.
"Look I know your unhealthy obsession with CID and crime series but can you not play it while eating."
"Don't worry, it does not have any brutal or gruesome scenes, they're just stuck in a haveli--"
"No-No, I don't want to hear anything." Siya closed her ears with her hands not wanting to hear anything.
"Okay..fine baba. Band kar diya, ab thik hai." She turned off the video.
"Btw, I have got your admission done, you'll have to join the classes from tomorrow." Siya informed her, making her choke on her food.
Siya chuckled at her response and handed her a glass of water " What!...I just came here, and the classes are starting..I wanted to explore the city." Disappointed was visible in her voice, since this is her first visit, she was very excited to explore the city.
"Sweetheart don't forget what you're here for and classes have already started a week ago." Siya reminded Avika that she was supposed to focus on her motive of coming here.
"Aur..waise bhi you're going to be here for the next three years now and there are holidays...I'll show you around the city when I am free."
"Okay.." Avika knew Siya was right and she has almost three years to explore, what's the hurry.
"Thank you so much Siya."
"Come again..." Siya was now irritated of hearing her thanks again and again since she agreed to help her in this city.
Siya and Avika have been close friends since childhood, but because of financial issues Siya started working and shifted Jaipur and when Avika asked for her help she didn't hesitate and invited her here.
For Avika it was a big favour, both of them were of the same age but had different things in their plates. Siya dropped out after her high school graduation she just wanted to help her family so was doing a job while Avika was trying to find herself.
She was always so busy with everything around her that she almost forgot herself and her dreams.
That's why she moved out of her surroundings and came here, where she doesn't have to become the epitome of perfection, where she can make mistakes without getting scared of the consequences, where she can be herself, to be precise find herself which she lost while being the one she is not.
Avika gave Siya a big smile " I love you yaar."
"I love you too....but ye mat samjhna ki free-fund main milaga sab kuch...Ghar ka kaam karna padega." Avika's smile faded away before both of them burst into a fist of laughter.
"Ji Maharani Sahiba." She said dramatically joining her hands together.
~Next day~
Avika was so excited for her first day in college, she got ready in a plain navy blue midi dress and entered the kitchen to cook something for breakfast.
" Good morning." Siya wished coming out of her room, all dressed in her professional attire.
" Good morning, breakfast is ready." Avika chimed.
" Thank-you darling, you're looking sexy." Siya complimented her, grinning.
" Me?...sexy?....look at you first. Gajab dha rahi ho. Agar main ladka hoti to abhi tujhe pata leti." Avika flirted back.
" Chal-Chal, waise bhi you wouldn't wanna be late on the first day of college." Siya said taking her seat.
"True."
The girls had their breakfast and left the house. Siya dropped Avika on her scooty and went to her job.
After getting all the details about classes and all, Avika was wondering to find the class, she was supposed to attend.
She dragged her feet along the corridor, she was fascinated by the big campus so she took out her phone and started to capture some random pics.
As she was busy in clicking pictures, she found herself getting drawn by a small garden on the edge of the corridor, she bent to take a closup of different flowers.
From the other side of the corridor a guy in his perfectly ironed shirt and pants was coming, unaware of the bent girl who was busy clicking pictures.
Suddenly a random girl of Avika's age came to him making him stop just some distance away from Avika.
" Sir....will you be coming to our class today?" She asked politely.
He gave her a small smile " No...Aaj Mera period nahi hai aapki class main. I'll see you guys tomorrow."
"Okay sir ..... Thank you sir." The girl went back to her class.
Avika heard their conversation and decided to ask the teacher where her class is, so she stood up but ended up crashing into the guy who fell in the small garden ruining some flowers.
The guy got startled not realising what just happened, " What the hell!" He cursed a bit loudly.
" Sorry-sorry, I am really sorry. I didn't know ki aap mere peeche hi khade the." Avika apologised and extended her hand to help him get up.
He looked at her and immediately recognised her.
" Red dupatta." Only these words came out of her mouth as he recalled yesterday's incident.
